Brand Breakdown of Endy vs Purple.

Endy.

With the hustle and bustle of everyday life, many people are time-poor and in need of services that can solve unnecessary, time-consuming tasks—enter Endy. This Canadian- brand designs and produces mattresses for Canadians in need of better sleep and a simpler process of buying a mattress. Endy makes it possible to avoid the prosaic rite of passage of laying on mattresses at big box stores with an easy-to-use website experience. After the click of a few buttons, you will have a brand-new Endy mattress at your doorstep within one to three business days on average, and you have a 100-night risk-free trial to try it in your own home and ensure it’s right for you. I got mine within two days, and loved it from the first night.

Endy’s commitment to creating a quality experience is apparent throughout their entire process. From only using the highest-grade materials available in the market to perfecting their open-cell technology—Endy truly cares about Canadians getting the rest they deserve. With over 550,000 mattresses sold since the company was founded in 2015, they’ve made their mark in the mattress market and have helped revolutionize the industry.

Purple.

Purple is owned by our friends down South. You can also conveniently order it online and have it delivered straight to your doorstep. Purple is known for its various mattress designs that incorporate a unique Purple Grid technology, which provides a sleep experience that is described as “firm but soft.” The Purple Grid is made of a silicone-like waffle material that adapts to and moulds around your hand when you press into it.

Sleep Experience of Endy vs Purple.

Endy.

Between our pets having nightly boxing matches on my side of the bed and my partner’s constant movement, let me be the first to say that, before Endy, I hadn’t had a good night’s rest in years. I had high hopes that the Endy mattress would transform my sleep experience based on online reviews and it definitely lived up to the hype.

Pressure relief: I’ve tried numerous types of memory foam pillows and mattress toppers in the past, but have always had the same experience of sinking into the material with no proper neck or back support. With Endy’s proprietary Comfort Foam though, I found that the mattress’s firmness cushioned my body so I felt supported to have a proper sleeping position (say goodbye to sleeping diagonally with one leg bent at all times). Within a few short weeks, I noticed that my persistent lower back pain was becoming less noticeable with each night spent on an Endy.

After a bit of digging, we also found out that Endy is the only mattress that is both GREENGUARD Gold certified (meaning it meets rigorous standards for providing a healthier air quality inside your home) and endorsed by the Canadian Chiropractic Association. It’s reassuring to know that Endy mattresses are both safe for your home and promote proper spinal alignment.

Temperature regulation: This may be TMI, but we noticed that our older mattress would absorb any ounce of perspiration during the night. Definitely not ideal when you want a long-lasting, durable, clean bed to jump into at the end of the day. After switching to Endy, we found the open-cell foam top layer makes the mattress more breathable— especially in the hotter summer months. The mattress cover is also removable and machine washable, so any summer night sweats are easily taken care of. Unlike memory foam mattresses, which are temperature sensitive, the Endy maintains the same level of firmness as our weather yo-yos from -30 degrees Celsius to +30.

Motion transfer: Unlike our previous mattress, the Endy mattress eliminates motion transfer, so I don’t feel every single movement throughout the night. Not being jostled awake from pets galloping across the bed or my partner’s erratic movements in his sleep is a big win for me.

Purple.

If you’re in a hurry, here’s the SparkNotes summary: I missed my Endy after the first sleep on the Purple… If you’ve got some time, here’s the full story:

Pressure relief: The Purple Plus Mattress I tested features a 2” layer of the Purple Grid, which is designed to adapt to your body and sleeping position. While I did find that it provided good support for my hips and lower back, I experienced a noticeable shoulder kink after the first night. Initially, I thought it was just my body adjusting to the new surface and didn’t pay much attention to it. However, over the following weeks, the shoulder pain persisted and began spreading to my neck.

Unfortunately, even after sleeping on the Purple mattress for 30 days, the discomfort never truly went away. From a pressure relief standpoint, it didn’t perform as well as the Endy, particularly for a side and back sleeper like myself. Here’s how my partner John described it: “Instead of hugging and supporting, you sort of just sink.”

Temperature Regulation: This is where I must mention its breathability and temperature regulation. We found the Purple mattress maintains an optimal temperature throughout the night.

Motion Transfer: Decent. The Purple mattress is designed to minimize motion transfer, similar to the Endy. This feature ensures that movement on one side of the bed is less likely to disturb a sleeping partner. From my experience, I can say that the Purple mattress lives up to this expectation, but not as well as the Endy, and it’s quite a bit more expensive at $3,349 for a Queen (compared to $895 for an Endy).

Quick Facts of Endy vs Purple.

Endy.

    • Endy is a Canadian-based, -designed, and -manufactured company. A rarity in the market to find a brand that both designs and makes its mattresses within Canada.
    • Endy’s Comfort Foam helps with a few things that plague chronic bad sleep: eliminating motion transfer, breathability, and relieving pressure (helping with back pain).
    • Unlike big box stores, where you order a mattress and wait up to six weeks for delivery, Endy mattresses are delivered within one to three business days with free shipping to every province. The package was lighter and smaller than we expected, making it easy to lift two floors to our bedroom.
    • Endy offers two different mattress types—the Endy and the Endy Hybrid—alongside supporting products like pillows, bed sheets, blankets, and bed frames. A Queen size Endy Mattress is $895.
    • Endy is the only mattress that is both GREENGUARD Gold certified and endorsed by the Canadian Chiropractic Association.
    • Having only bought mattresses in-store, it was comforting to know that we had a 100-night sleep trial to ensure the Endy was right for us. If the mattress isn’t your cuppa tea, Endy will organize the mattress pick-up and donate it to a local charity free of charge. This stress-free, “no questions asked” process is incredibly appealing considering I barely have the time and energy to make a doctor’s appointment, let alone coordinate a mattress return.
    • Your mattress comes with a 10-year limited warranty for normal wear and use (you can sign-up as an Endy VIP+ for a 15-year limited warranty here).

Purple.

    • Purple is an American online mattress brand, with a retail partnership here in Canada with Sleep Country. Its mattresses are made in the USA.
    • Their mattresses are a medium firmness, meaning medium bordering on the soft side
    • It’s known for its Purple Grid technology that’s described to give a “firm but soft” sleep experience.

Final Verdict of Endy vs Purple.

Without a doubt, when it comes to the sleep and purchase experience, Endy outshines the Purple. It cradles your body with the perfect balance of support and comfort, providing a truly snuggly sleep. What’s more, instead of spending a few thousand dollars on a Purple Mattress, Endy offers an even better product at a better price. The added benefit of a 100-night trial and a money-back make it an easy, risk-free decision.

If you find yourself at the point where it’s time to part ways with a mattress that no longer serves you, I strongly encourage you to consider adding the Endy to your cart
